Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Illume mobile application (the "App"), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and any additional guidelines or policies incorporated herein by reference. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and ARISE SHINE LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").

These Terms are effective as of April 14, 2026. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must not access or use the App. These Terms apply to all users of the App, including users on iOS or Android devices and users of any paid subscription tier.

"App" — The Illume mobile application available on iOS and Android platforms, including all features, content, tools, and updates.

"User" / "You" — Any individual who downloads, installs, accesses, or uses the App in any manner.

"Content" — All text, data, scripture passages, declarations, prompts, habit frameworks, features, images, and any other material made available through the App by Illume.

"User Content" — Any journal entries, prayer records, personal notes, reflections, or other data entered into the App by the User.

"Pro Features" — Premium features and functionality available to Users who have purchased an active Illume Pro subscription.

"Company" — ARISE SHINE LLC, the limited liability company that owns and operates the Illume application, operating at illume.faith.

Illume is a faith-based discipleship and habit application designed to assist committed Christians in developing spiritual practices including scripture memorization, reflective journaling, identity declarations, answered prayer tracking, and habit formation within a biblical framework. The App is designed as a personal spiritual tool — a lantern intended to illuminate the path closer to God, not to replace Him.

IMPORTANT: Illume is not a church, a religious institution, a licensed counseling service, a medical or mental health provider, a pastoral care service, or a substitute for a personal relationship with God, professional guidance, or community of faith. The App is a tool. All transformation, spiritual growth, and healing ultimately comes from God alone.

Specifically, Illume is not: a replacement for professional psychological, psychiatric, or medical advice; a replacement for pastoral counseling or ordained ministry; a substitute for participation in a local church or Christian community; a diagnostic tool for spiritual, psychological, or physical conditions; a crisis intervention service or emergency resource; a guarantee of any specific spiritual, psychological, behavioral, or life outcome; or a tool for diagnosing demonic activity, possession, or spiritual affliction in oneself or others.

MENTAL HEALTH: The App is not a licensed mental health, psychological, or medical service. Nothing in the App constitutes mental health treatment, psychological therapy, psychiatric care, medical advice, or clinical diagnosis of any kind. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, suicidal ideation, self-harm, psychosis, or any other mental health condition, Illume is not a substitute for professional care.

NOT A CHURCH OR MINISTRY: Illume is an independent technology application. It is not affiliated with any denomination, church, or organized religious institution. Illume is designed to complement — not replace — a User's participation in a local church community and relationship with pastoral leadership.

NO GUARANTEE OF SPIRITUAL OUTCOMES — OUR CORE COMMITMENT: Illume makes no claim or promise regarding spiritual outcomes of any kind, including but not limited to a deepened connection with God, answered prayers, physical health, or financial prosperity. Any growth in faith, discipline, or relationship with the Lord results solely from an individual's own sincere and personal pursuit of God with all their heart and mind. The App is a tool — not a guarantee.

Specifically, Illume does not guarantee: any specific spiritual growth, transformation, or sanctification; freedom from any sin, habit, addiction, or behavioral pattern; any answered prayer, divine response, or specific outcome from prayer; any improvement in mental, emotional, or physical health; a specific or deepened experience of God's presence; or resolution of spiritual opposition or healing of emotional wounds.

The App's highest success is a User who no longer needs it — one who has internalized the practices deeply enough to walk in freedom and authority independent of the application.

The App is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the App.

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. The Company does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

The App is designed to be used initially without requiring the creation of an account. All User Content is stored locally on your device and backed up through your device's native backup system (iCloud on iOS; Google Drive on Android).

At a later stage, you may optionally link your Apple ID or Google account to enable cross-device access. The Company does not require your email address or any personal identifying information to use the App.

You agree to use the App solely for its intended purpose — personal spiritual development, scripture engagement, and faith practice — and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Illume offers both a free tier and a paid subscription ("Illume Pro") that unlocks additional features.

Recurring Billing: Illume Pro is billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected). By subscribing, you authorize the Company to charge your designated payment method on each billing cycle until you cancel.

Free Trials: Where a free trial is offered, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial expires.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the App store platform through which you subscribed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: All purchases are subject to the refund policy of the applicable app store platform. The Company is not responsible for refund decisions made by Apple or Google.

You retain ownership of all User Content you create. By storing User Content within the App, you grant the Company a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and process such content solely for the purpose of delivering the App's features to you.

In the current version of the App, User Content is stored locally on your device. The Company does not hold your User Content on its own servers.

The Company does not access, read, sell, or share your User Content with third parties except as required to operate the App or as required by law.

The App currently uses the King James Version (KJV) of the Holy Bible, which is in the public domain in the United States and most jurisdictions worldwide.

Additional Bible translations may be made available in future versions of the App and will be licensed appropriately. The Company does not claim ownership of any scripture text.

All content, features, functionality, design, layout, text, graphics, logos, and other materials made available through the App — excluding scripture text in the public domain and User Content — are the exclusive intellectual property of the Company.

The Illume name, logo, brand identity, feature names, and the App's overall design system are proprietary to the Company. You may not use, reproduce, distribute, modify, or exploit any Company intellectual property without prior written permission.

Prohibition on Copying and Reverse Engineering: It is a violation of these Terms to copy, scrape, or replicate the App's source code; to reproduce the App's unique features or user interface design in any competing product; or to use technical tools, AI systems, or any other method to systematically extract, analyze, or reproduce the App's design, logic, or functionality.

The Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the App for your personal, non-commercial spiritual development only.

You agree not to use the App to: violate any applicable law or regulation; diagnose, treat, or claim to treat any spiritual, psychological, or medical condition; misrepresent the nature or capabilities of the App to others; exploit the App's spiritual framework to manipulate, coerce, or spiritually abuse other individuals; access the App by any means other than through the official iOS or Android applications; scrape or systematically collect content from the App by any automated means; develop a competing product or service; transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code; impersonate any person or entity; harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate any other person; or use the App for commercial purposes without the express written consent of the Company.

CRITICAL: Illume is not a crisis intervention service and is not equipped to respond to emergencies. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, experiencing a mental health crisis, or requires emergency assistance, please stop using the App and contact emergency services immediately.

The App is not monitored in real time. User Content entered into the App is not reviewed by the Company, and no one at the Company will respond to expressions of distress entered into the App.

Illume's content is grounded in a biblical theology of spiritual warfare, drawing primarily from Ephesians 6, Romans 12, 2 Corinthians 10, and related passages of scripture.

The spiritual warfare framework within the App is intended as a tool for personal spiritual reflection and growth, not as a method for diagnosing the spiritual state of any other person. Users must not use the App's framework to make pronouncements about the spiritual condition of others or to conduct informal deliverance ministry without appropriate pastoral oversight.

Christians hold diverse theological views on spiritual warfare. The App presents one biblically grounded perspective and does not claim its approach is the only legitimate Christian perspective.

The App includes features for recording prayer requests and logging prayers the User perceives to have been answered. These features are provided as personal spiritual journaling tools.

The Company makes no claim, representation, or warranty regarding the theological interpretation of any specific prayer outcome, nor does the Company represent that use of the prayer features will produce any specific divine response or outcome.

The Company is not responsible for any spiritual conclusions, decisions, or actions taken by a User as a result of engaging with the spiritual warfare or prayer content within the App. All significant spiritual decisions should be made in prayerful consultation with God, trusted pastoral leadership, and community of faith.

Your privacy is important to us. The Company's collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at illume.faith/privacy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Your use of these platforms is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. The Company does not endorse, control, or assume any responsibility for the content or availability of any third-party websites or services.

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE COMPANY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

The Company does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that defects will be corrected; that the content is complete or accurate; or that any specific spiritual, behavioral, or psychological outcome will result from use of the App.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY, ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, LICENSORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

Specifically, the Company shall not be liable for: any spiritual, psychological, emotional, relational, or life outcomes arising from use of the App; any decisions made by a User on the basis of the App's content; any harm arising from a User's failure to seek appropriate professional or emergency support; any loss of User Content; or any damages arising from unauthorized access to your account.

Where limitation of liability is not permitted by applicable law, the Company's total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid to the Company in the twelve months prior to the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50.00).

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company and its owners, officers, employees, agents, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms, your use or misuse of the App, your User Content, your violation of any third party's rights, or your violation of any applicable law or regulation.

The Company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App — or any feature thereof — at any time, with or without notice. We also reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time.

Your continued use of the App after any modification to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the App.

The Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.

You may terminate your use of the App at any time by deleting the App from your device and, where applicable, canceling your subscription through the applicable app store.

Upon termination, your right to use the App immediately ceases. Sections 09, 16, 17, 18, and 21 shall survive termination.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Informal Resolution First: Before initiating any formal dispute process, you agree to contact the Company at info@illume.faith to attempt to resolve any dispute informally within thirty (30) days of receiving written notice.

Binding Arbitration: If informal resolution is unsuccessful, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court.

Class Action Waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms or policies incorporated herein by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company with respect to the App.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
